About Genette

A true "Native Houstonian", I was born and raised in Houston, attending Westbury High School, before going off to North Texas State University to get my Bachelor's in Education. Upon graduation, I held a number of teaching positions in Sugar Land, Nederland, and The Woodlands. I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade and even had the opportunity to be the Founding Director at the Christ Church United Methodist Preschool. I went back to school at Sam Houston in 2007 to get my MEd in Counseling. I'm married and have two grown children and five grandchildren.

I've been practicing since 2009. After having had the opportunity to work for two counseling practices, I opened my independent practice in 2014.

Her Philosophy

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas and my Master's degree in Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I have 35 years of experience working with children, couples and families through the educational system and now in marriage and family counseling. I am seeing clients virtually through a HIPAA-compliant tele-therapy program.

Areas of specialty include adolescent issues, anger management, marriage counseling and individuals who are having difficulty in their relationships. I use John Gottman's Level I and Level II marriage counseling, 5 Love Languages, Love and Logic, Prepare/Enrich, Christian Counseling and Family System's Therapy. I am a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist.

My philosophy is to treat each client with respect, acknowledging that each individual has worth and value and assuring each client that there is someone in their life who cares for them. Clients may include adolescents and adults who are experiencing emotional distress through divorce, grief, school issues or relationships.
